Review the following list of frequently asked questions to learn more about the Miami HEAT's health and safety protocols this summer at camp.

Jr. HEAT Summer camp will operate at a limited capacity. The number of participants will vary based on the nature of the camp, facility space, and staffing. The groups will be organized into the smallest practical sizes. To the extent possible, the campers's exposure to different counselors and campers will be limited.

To reduce the introduction of new objects to camp, parents should leave their child's personal items at home. Accommodations should be made for children with disabilities, special needs or medications.

At camp, each child will have their own set of materials, when possible. Camp staff members are responsible for sanitizing materials after each use. Shared sports equipment, such as basketballs, will be sanitized daily before and after camp.

• Backpack, cell phone, keys, wallet, lunch, water bottle & any required medical items.
• Participants will be assigned a designated area that has been sanitized for their personal items.

All campers and staff members are required to wear a mask at all times while indoors and not actively playing, eating or drinking. Campers may remove their mask during activity and drills. Hand sanitizer is available throughout the camp and facility. Signage has been installed across our facility, including in bathrooms, to promote hygiene/hand washing and physical distancing.

Counselors have been trained to follow all the Kaseya Center COVID-19 protocols and contact tracing procedures. Each camp has a designated professional staff member responsible for coordinating facility sanitization and ensuring their camp groups adhere to Miami HEAT policy.

Campers who display COVID-19 symptoms will be isolated immediately, and parents will be contacted to pick up their child. Until they receive negative results from a COVID-19 PCR test, campers displaying symptoms will remain quarantined at home. Parents are responsible for taking their child to get tested.

• In the event that a positive Covid 19 case is presented, all activities for the court associated with that case will cease immediately as well as any other close contacts that have been identified, if applicable. Please see CDC definition of a close contact:
  • Someone who has been within 6 feet of an infected person (laboratory-confirmed or a clinically compatible illness) for a cumulative total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period (for example, three individual 5-minute exposures for a total of 15 minutes in one day). An infected person can spread SARS-CoV-2 starting from 2 days before they have any symptoms (or, for asymptomatic patients, 2 days before the positive specimen collection date), until they meet criteria for discontinuing home isolation.
• The camper or counselor who is positive for Covid-19 must isolate for 14 days and can only return with two (2) back to back negative PCR tests. Testing must be done at least 24 hours apart.
• All parents of campers associated with that court will be notified of the positive test by phone and email
• All campers associated with that court must quarantine for 10 days and will be denied access to camp that week and any additional weeks they may be signed up for within those 10 days or until cleared
• Any camper in contact tracing must follow the below procedures to return to camp
  • This is for campers with or without symptoms that did not test positive for Covid-19 but have been placed in contact tracing:
  • Quarantine for 10 days
  • Provide (1) one negative PCR COVID-19 test result
    • Test administered no sooner than 10 days from the date of possible exposure or the first date of symptoms, whichever date is later. OR
  • Provide a signed physician's note certifying that you are cleared to return to camp.
    • If you have symptoms, the doctor's note must certify that the symptoms are not COVID-19 related.
  • All equipment associated with that court will be removed and disinfected immediately
  • In the event a camper is scheduled for any additional weeks after they have been placed in contact tracing, that camper must quarantine for 10 days and provide one (1) negative PCR COVID-19 test result before re-entry to camp

Siblings of campers who have tested positive will be considered close contacts and also will be required to quarantine. If a campers sibling test positive for COVID-19, the parent must notify the camp director and must follow the aforementioned steps. This also applies if Parents of campers test positive for COVID-19.

Any camper with a non-COVID-19 illness must remain at home until 24 hours after their symptoms have been resolved without the need for medication and also provide a negative Covid 19 PCR test.

No - All payments must be made completely and upfront in order to confirm your child's spot at camp.

There is no deadline- First come first served, but camp fills up fast so we encourage early registration to confirm your space.

• Between 150-210. However campers are split into teams of about 10 and assigned a coach.
• Teams are divided by age and skill level (ex. 7 and 8 year olds together 9 and 10...)

We try our best to have 1 current or former player attend camp 1 day out of each week - however it is not guaranteed. (This Meet & Greet is for campers only. NOT FAMILY OR FRIENDS OF CAMPERS. Our goal is to give each child the most of their time with the player/legend.)

We suggest 8:30am to check in. Camp will begin at 9am.

We do not offer after care, but we have a coach who does not leave until the last camper is picked up. However, we strongly encourage parents to pick up no later than 4:00 pm.

• Monday - Pizza
• Tuesday - Chicken Nuggets and Mac and Cheese
• Wednesday - Tacos
• Thursday - Meatball Subs
• Friday - Pizza

Yes

• Campers will have several breaks during the day to purchase snacks. Each snack is $1.00
• Candy, granola bars, fruit snacks
• Suggested amount: $10.00 per week
• There is the option to add funds to snack shack on the registration site. You may also pay with cash at the registration table on Monday morning.
• We keep an account sheet and mark off when campers use money - this way the child does not have to worry about misplacing their funds.
• Parents can add snack shack money at any time, however we do not issue refunds if the funds are not used at the end of each week. If your child is attending multiple weeks, the balance will roll over into the following week's account.

• Gatorade and water is available to campers at all times.
• We discourage campers to bring own drinks because of spillage on court.

We have campers who have never touched a ball, and campers who have played their whole life. We teach basic skills and training and accommodate all skill levels.

Yes- actually many tourist and foreigners attend camp each summer. We love having fans from all over the nation join us… HEAT Nation!

Unfortunately we do not offer overnight or transportation accommodations, and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience. Parents are responsible for picking up and dropping off their child daily.

No- the campers stay at the camp location all day.

This is a common request, and we cannot accommodate everyone. Our main goal is to make the teams fair as possible. We divide teams on Monday morning based on age and skill level.

• Yes- a trainer is at camp throughout the day.
• Parents can leave medications with the trainer.

Yes we invite parents to watch games. Each morning there will be a white board with game times to let parents know when their child will be playing.
